Chapter 3

"Everybody ready to go?" Kevin asked as the whole group made it back to Cinderella's Castle at almost the same time.

Kayci jumped down from Kevin's arms and ran into Nick's. "Guess what I did today?" she said excitedly.

"What?" Nick pretended to be full of wonderment to please the little child.

"I walked around with Kevvy, and we went on rides, and then he got me ice cream, and then I met Minnie Mouse, and Kevvy knew her! Then I got to go in Mickey's house and it was a mess. Then this woman came up to Kevvy and told him that he had a cute daughter. I was confused when she said that but he told me just to say thank you so I did."

The group started laughing and they all looked at Kevin. "What? We had a lot of fun today, right Cici?"

"Yup," she said and leaned against Nick's chest. Jessica watched how her daughter took so well to Nick. Sure she liked Kevin, but that was more like a crush. She acted different towards Nick. It was like she thought he was her....

Jessica gasped and took Kayci from Nick.

"What's wrong?" he asked her as he handed over the little girl.

"Nothing," she covered and put Kayci on her back. "Is there anything wrong with me wanting to give my daughter a piggy back ride," Jess said emphasizing the word daughter.

No one disagreed and Nick made a mental note to ask her what was bothering her later. The large group found a sit-in restaurant and made their way in and were seated at a large wrap around booth in the back. When the waitress brought over a high-chair Kayci protested.

"I'm not that short, am I?" she said and the group laughed. "I'll just have a booster seat, thanks," they all stopped laughing and looked at her. The waitress went back to get a booster seat for the customer.

"I swear, the child thinks she 25," AJ said remembering what had happened earlier that morning. Everyone laughed again and Kayci just looked at them all like 'what did I say?'.

Nick reached under the table and gave Jessica's hand a squeeze. He whispered in her ear. "What's wrong? You seem out of it."

"I am out of it. Excuse me," she said and slipped out of the booth since she was on the end. Lesley who was on the other end decided to follow her. They walked into the bathroom and Jessica leaned against the wall. She slid down to the floor in tears. Lesley kneeled by her side.

"What's wrong, hun?" she asked feeling as if they had been friends forever already.

"Oh nothing," Jessica said sarcastically and then continued. "I meet a great guy who is going to be leaving in a month. My daughter has never had any kind of male figure in her life and she's attaching to him like Super Glue. When he leaves she's gonna be heartbroken and she'll probably grow up for the rest of her life hating the whole male species." Jess slightly laughed through her sobs.

Lesley giggled at Jessica's antics. "Is that all? Hun, I've been dating Howie for almost a year now. Let me tell you something," she said softly and Jess looked at her with a vacant expression. "After all the fights and all the problems and regardless of whether you want them to or not, they always come back," she said in a 'mother knows best' tone.

This got Jessica to smile and she stood up and looked in the mirror. "Ok, I'm not going back out there like this," she didn't smile at her reflection.

"You don't have too," Lesley said getting a paper towel and putting cold water on it. "Here," she offered it to Jessica and she gave her a look of thanks. Jessica put it on her eyes to make the redness in them go away.

"You know, I'm lucky I never wear makeup or this would be a definite disaster."

"Yup. How do you do it?" Lesley joked and put her fist in front of Jessica's mouth like a microphone.

"I do it with smooth, round-"

"Micro scrubbers," they said together and laughed.

Jessica took the paper towel off and splashed water on her face. She dried her face and gave Lesley a hug. "Thank you."

"Hey, no problem. I wanna know how you do it. I couldn't imagine being a mother right now and I'm 23," she laughed.

"I truly don't know," Jessica said and they laughed as they approached the table again.

"Are you ok, now?" Nick asked concerned.

"Yes, thank you for asking," Jessica said and kissed his cheek.

"I'm guessing you had something to do with this," Nick looked pointedly at Lesley.

"What do you mean? We've been friends-"

"Since the third grade," they said together and again and tried to contain their laughter but couldn't.

AJ coughed. "Psychos.... psychos." and Amanda nudged him in the stomach. Everyone laughed.

Their food came back and a chef salad and a plate of fries were set in front of Jessica. It wasn't the healthiest thing but it was what she wanted. Jessica looked around questioningly and everyone pointed at Kayci and she shrugged.

"Thank you, Cici," Jessica said sweetly.

"Your welcome, mommy," she copied her mothers voice.

Sanya pretended to gag and she and Brian laughed to themselves.

After each of the guys had ordered more food for themselves and when they were full they all left the restaurant.

"So what do ya'll wanna do now?" Brian asked as he wrapped his arms around Sanya from behind her back.

"Well, I promised a certain someone that I would take her on Splash Mountain," Kevin said and Cici ran to him.

"I wanna go on that," Jessica said and Kayci clapped.

"You have to come too, Nick," Kayci said sternly.

"Awww, do I gotta?" he pretended to whine and picked up the little girl over his head. Then he brought her back down and tickled her. She was giggling like crazy. Jessica turned away and Lesley put her hand on Jessica's shoulder.

"It'll all work out for the best," she whispered to Jess and they smiled at each other.

"Well, I don't know about you other ladies, but I wanna go shopping," Amanda said and took AJ's hand.

"I'm in," he said happily.

"Well, I wanna go to Space Mountain," Brian said.

"Then I do too," Sanya said and dragged him away. "We'll meet up at 9 for the light show and then leave together. Ok you guys?"

Everyone agreed and so they were off on their own separate ways again. Some to get wet, some to get scared, and some to spend money. By the end of the day, they were all exhausted. When they got the chance to sit down for the light show at Epcot, they all jumped at the chance. Jessica looked around and saw all the happy faces around her. Except two.

"Where's Nick and Kayci?" she asked Kevin and he shrugged without taking his eyes of the skies.

Jessica cursed to herself and got up to find them. She pushed her way through the crowds and finally emerged to find the sweetest thing she had every seen in her entire life. There was Nick, rocking back and forth, with her little girl in his arms. She sat down on some bricks surrounding a tree and just watched him. He sat down on ledge and began to softly sing to her. Jessica couldn't tell what, but smiled at the scene. The tears began to threaten to fall and she held them back.

Slowly, Jess got up and walked over and sat next to Nick. He looked at her and smiled.

"She's a doll," he kept his voice low so he wouldn't wake her up. "She reminds me so much of you," he said and even though it was dark, he could see Jessica blush.

"Do you want me to take her?"

"No. I'm fine.... I'm gonna have to agree with Kevin," he said and looked her in the eye. "I want ones just like her eventually after all this stuff is through."

Jessica leaned in and kissed Nick's lips silently. Just then, there was a chorus of 'Awwww's' and the two of them broke apart to see the rest of the group. They both blushed and looked down.

"You guys are really sweet and you've been making me sick all day. Can we go home now?" Sanya said sarcastically to ease the embarrassment off of Jessica.

The best friends looked at each other and Jess thanked Sanya with just her eyes. That's how tight they were. Sanya smiled back a welcome.

"Yeah, let's go," AJ said and they all said quick good byes once they got to the parking lot and were gone. Before he left, Kevin even gave Kayci a kiss on her forehead. The drive home for Nick, Jessica, Sanya, and Kayci was pretty silent. When they reached the apartment, Sanya took Cici inside, changed her clothes and put her to bed before stumbling in her room herself.

Jessica sat in the car with Nick for a while just talking. "So you'll call me, right?"

"Definitely," he said and watched her get out of the truck and come to his window. She stuck her head through and kissed him goodnight. She backed away and sighed. He smirked and got out of his truck and stood beside her. He wrapped her arms around his neck and his around her waist. She giggled and he picked her up off the ground twirling her. Nick set her back down and kissed her again. She pulled him closer and just enjoyed the feeling of being with him. Jessica parted away from his lips and kissed him once more. Then again, and then again. She leaned her forehead against his like they had done the night before.

"Bye Babe," she whispered.

"C-ya Sexy," he brushed his lips against hers for the last time and got back into his truck. She walked to the door and turned around and waved slightly before going inside and shutting the door. Everything seemed like a fairy tale so far. It made her wonder when it was all going to end.

Nick waited till she was completely gone before pulling out of the driveway and heading home. He turned on the radio and was surprised to hear the song he had sung to Kayci earlier.

"I'll be, your crying shoulder, And I'll be, love suicide. I'll be, better when I'm older, And I'll be, the greatest fan of your life."
